FILM REVIEW (Watch the youtube trailer here)
On January 16th 2024, we went to the « Théâtre à Moustaches » with the optional English classes ( LCE ) to watch the movie « Invictus ». Invictus is the name of a poem which inspired Nelson Mandela when he was in prison.
At the beginning of the movie, Nelson Mandela has just become President of South Africa. He is trying to unite a divided country.
The movie begins with black children playing football and white children playing rugby. Nelson Mandela sees this and decides he wants to unite the two groups through rugby.
The captain of the Springboks is Francois Pienaar and he has a good relationship with Mandela. The rugby world cup has permitted the population to celebrate together and create a sense of unity.
The Springboks ultimately win against the undefeated All-Blacks.
In the end, Mandela reaches his goal. According to him, « no one is invisible ». It is a beautiful sentence and a good life lesson.
It was a good moment and in our opinion, the movie was excellent.
